it's HAFB Warriors Over the Wasatch is finally back this year! Let's use this thread to plan for the event. If anyone has the frequencies that have been used in the past or potentially a list for this year please share!

Event Info: https://www.hill.af.mil/Warriors-Over-The-Wasatch/
UTA Transportation: Air Show

Something a bit interesting from the Prohibited Items list, scanner are permitted... but not digital?

I will be attending on Sunday (busy at a fireworks show on Saturday) and would be happy to meet up with anyone else going to be there. If enough people would be there on Sunday we can plan a spot and time to meetup.

Also if anyone normally monitors the HAFB stuff give some thoughts on tings that may be interesting or active that day beside the Airshow flight freqs.

Scanners, so you can listen to the Aircraft. Digital, so that you can not listen to Base Ops. (my guess)

Yeah, I get that but will the people at the gates really know what scanners are analog or digital capable? I have a 436HP and am now hesitant about whether I should try bringing it. Listening to Airshows on a scanner is part of how I even got into this hobby.

(my guess) if the person doing the looking, actually see's the scanner, and see's the word "Digital", then maybe, there might be a problem. With as many people that will be attending, it (my guess) will be hit and miss if it is even seen.

They had this same rule in 2018. I got in with a Uniden BCD396XT no problem last few shows. Always a bit nervous to do so if they actually enforce the rule lol Heard Air Boss at the '18 show on 121.6 I programmed the Thunderbird frequencies from the database here. I could hear solos and Diamond.
Gonna head down on Wednesday before show and every day till Monday see if I can catch some arrivals and scan for frequencies with 2 Uniden BC125AT, SDS 100 Maybe plug my SDS 200 into my car and an old beat up BC246T lot's of overkill lol but I love scanners and Aviation. I wanna hear everything lol

why would they ban digital scanners after all they can just turn on the ENC if they due not want pop;e to hear what is going on.
That is part of the fun of going was to hear the radio traffic. Due not know if i can go might be working.

With as many outside agencies that come and provide mutual aid they won’t be using the big Ø switch. I would be willing to bet you’ll hear patches to event TG’s on the OmniLink system, that’s how they did them back east.

Interestingly, they changed their prohibited items list. They are now removed from the "Permitted Items" side. The last airshow they wouldn't let me in with my Uniden BC125AT digital scanner. I put up a little bit of an argument and so they called the supervisor over. He initially said no, but when I told him it was on the permitted side he asked if it transmitted, I told him no, and he let me through.

I was under the assumption that HAFB was phase 1, cuz my home patrol 1 scanner received their transmissions just fine (in 2019). have they changed to phase 2 or are we sure?

The RR database says P25 Phase II. That said, my Phase I scanners listen just fine. (at one time they were operating full Phase II, but that did not last long.)

Thats what I mean, thats why I asked. Is the database correct in saying its phase 2 if phase 1 scanners pick it up

It is a Phase II system. However it is operated as Phase I. The Control Channel will tell the scanners what to do. (confusing I know);)

In 2018 the Thunderbirds diamond formation was on 141.175. The other frequency I saved was 235.25, which says it is the solos on the database here. The list of frequencies on here for the Thunderbirds seems to have been pretty good the last couple years, but I've never been able to pickup any other performers.

Looks like they cant make their minds up. Latest list has scanners as permitted items. Would be ridiculous to ban non digital scanners it's half the fun for some, listening to the air boss and performers at an air show. Prohibited/Permitted List Hill AFB WOW 2022

When I go to their website I get the modified one.

I'm just going to save yours and take it with me to show them if they stop me. I'm planning on being at the gate at 8:00, so I'll post here what happens.

I just received a response from the Air Force.
"Andrew,
I was forwarded your question about radio scanners. It should not be a problem if you bring your scanner to the airshow. Attached is the list of prohibited and permitted items. I hope you will be able to attend and enjoy the show!
MATTHEW A. FRANCOM, Maj, USAF"
He attached the PDF of the prohibited items that had scanners on the both sides.

Will be attending on Saturday.
Have a question on this:

• Excessive storage items such as briefcases, duffel bags and backpacks: must be smaller than 10x10x10 (inches) (exceptions: diaper bags, small purses, small camera cases and fanny packs)

Any help on this ?
