I'm seeing double! Maybe you are getting the whole thing there is just two of everything in your life.

Seriously, are you sure your only missing half? After someone talks to you hear beeps?

What are you trying to listening to?

I know here in my area I can only hear the medical helicopter talking to the hospital. I have never heard the hospital respond to the helicopter. And I've never heard any beeps from the helicopter.

It's either

A. A non repeated simplex channel (You would have to be close to the unit to hear it)

B. A non repeated semi duplex system (You would have to have both of the freqs put in and you would have to be close to the unit to hear it).

C. An input frequency for a repeated channel (You would need to program the output freq in and then you would hear everything).

D. It could be a trunked system, but doubt it.

Around here our Fire Dept. still simulcasts the dispatch side only of the DTRS on VHF So all you hear is the Dispatch side.

I personally am not that technical, but I know that a while ago LAPD used GE MPA's and you could only hear the dispatcher talking, but no body in the field unless the dispatcher pressed a button.

I dunno, just a guess 8) .
