I have all the Metro Transit freq's in my analog scanner as listed in the TAFL, but most times I only hear only the bus dispatcher and no reply from the bus driver. Even though dispatch can hear the response from the bus driver, I only hear one sided conversations.
Could it be some buses are on the TMR because I'm not hearing them ?

Looks like they are Duplex. Talk on one frequency, answer on another.

Put them all into your scanner.

I'm not local to there but Halifax Transit has 2 Ops channels listed on TMR. Talkgroups 41801 and 41802.

Regarding not being able to hear two sides, you have to keep in mind that the base side is transmitted from antennas on towers at the Burnside and Ragged Lake locations.

The buses have whatever mobile antennas are used. To tell you the truth, I have never really seen the antennas on the buses, so they certainly aren't very prominent. My experience is that you have to be pretty close to the bus to hear them, or can be a bit farther with a home scanner setup with rooftop antenna.
The transit system seems to do well in hearing their buses, again due to the central location and relatively good antenna and tower height. I am sure that tower at Burnside base has really good coverage.
he exception to all this is the Access a Bus service. That pair of frequencies is a repeater pair, just like normal so you hear both sides on the repeater output frequency (the low one of the pair).
