This may be something old.

quote: "156.06 (Tac 3) is becoming the new simulcast frequency for fire, at which point the 154.34 repeater may be taken out of service."

The about quote is from another part of this website, Does this mean that you can hear Fire dispatch on a VHF radio? I have not tried to listen in yet. Or is this somekinda of mutual aid link?

Thanks

Nope. Hall hasn't been on vhf for a loooonnnnggg time:) Fire just became unencrypted on their P-25 digital trunked system recently. You need a P-25 capable scanner to monitor. Forsyth is the only county in the area that uses the old VHF for fire dispatches.

Hall County still does a nightly VHF pager test around 19:00 on 154.340. Walton County still simulcast's it's P25 encrypted dispatch talkgroup on 154.340 also.

So, this means i can liten to Hall County with a $500 scanner? [996XT]
That, or, a cheaper Pro-96/2096. Or, the Pro-106/197. I used the 96 I had at the time that Hall was coming online. Used Pro96com to ferret out all the TG's before they went encrypted. So, if ya'll want to hear Hall FD, yes the 996XT will work great;)

Thank You Larry.

I think I will try to get a 996XT. I have 2 Uniden scanners, now.
[BC278, BC340] Might as well "catch-up" with technology.

VHF Simulcast

Larry:

There are a few other trunked systems that still simulcast their dispatch on VHF:

Fayette County - 155.385
Walton - 154.340
Newton - 154.205
Roswell - 460.600
and you can hear virtually all of the traffic on Douglas County's LTR trunked system by simply monitoring 152.750

I work in Gainesville and use an old 396T. Sometimes, the modulation is choppy, for when I travel, the reception is clear. I'm sure the newer Unidens would be fine.
