• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello:

HAM Operator K9OY, name is Gregory. New to this forum, so please DON'T FLAME ME.

I just bought an Older USED Harris XG-100. Hope to set it up for VHF & UHF P25 on the
HAM bands. No commercial interest here, just Hobby HAM radio channels that do
P25 C4FM Digital modulation on a few of the repeaters I use here in the Chicago land
area.

DID NOT BUY THIS from any HARRIS DEALER, so is there anyone out there in Cyber land
that I can pay to have my channel frequencies programed to my liking?

It came with a base charger, battery, and what I believe is a USB something dongle, that
attaches on the side where the Microphone would attach.

Thanks for any help with this, again I'm located in the Chicago land area.

I mean this in nicest way possible, was programming an afterthought? Generally when I get radios or look into purchasing them I ensure I have means to program them before I empty my wallet

K9OY, welcome to RR.
That XG-100P will do conventional VHF and UHF(feature enabled) just fine. An issue with UHF is narrow banding.
Also, features that enable P25 have to be enabled in the radio.
Programming this radio requires RPM software. RPM2 will not work.
If you have no background with RPM, I would really consider someone to program this for you.
Info that would be required is everthing about each digital repeater you intend to work through.
Most can be found in the RR database. A listing of talkgroups you want on each of these sites.
A list of all the conventional repeaters and frequencies you want.
I will PM you about information from the radio.

Well, at least you can program the radio via Bluetooth and avoid the high priced programming cables. Once he finds the other needed thing of course.
Sounds like the USB attachment is probably the aftermarket USB dongle for programming.

USB programming is built into the XG-100P and no dongle needed. Just marry to your computer and program mission plans. You do need the programming cable to update firmware and crypto modules.
It might be, there are 3 genuine programming plus a keyloading cable. If it works though that a $90 save.

And before anyone does, please don't tell the OP the software is "out there" or however you choose to phrase it.
KevinC, thanks for your comments.

I'm not sure what the mindset is and why
anyone would care or worry about
whether I pay L3Harris for some obsolete
"RPM" channel programing software,
for OBSOLETE 13 year old radios they
no longer sell or support anymore.
In fact I CAN NOT pay L3 Harris for this
RPM software, because they no longer
sell it.

I could see if I was some kind of a 2 way
radio shop making a handsome profit
supporting a customer base with pirated
software, and a fleet of these 13 year old
technology radio equipment. But what
2 way radio shop would do something
like that??

Anyway as of last night a simple download
corrected this situation.

Thanks to all that actually contributed in a
positive way.
