Hey Steve,
That's great, I have been wanting to do this due to the fact I was planning to take the next Storm Spotter course and this would come in handy. I do have some radio operating experience from the Civil Air
Patrol when I was younger. So this will help out.

Red,
I'm sure they would be glad to have you. The more the merrier. The reason I mentioned ordering the book early is that ARRL has a bad habbit of not getting the publications out in a timly manner. In the past my lady and I ordered General Class study guides a several weeks before a class was to start and they didn't arrive until the class was well under way. About a year ago the BRARC club held a Emcomm class and was going to use the ARRL EMCOMM Level 1 book as the text. About half a dozen books were ordered before the class which was held over 3 Saturdays. A month later the class was over and the books still had not arrived. The instructor used a downloaded PDF of the Colorado ARES?RACES Emcomm course instead and passed out DVDs with the course on it so participants could follow along on their laptops. I've learned that the best way is to order from ARRL is by phone with a Credit card and pay the extra bit of money for rush shipping.
Hope to hear you sucessfully pass the test and get your ham ticket.
