May I have some good links on the Web for information on obtaining a HAM license?

Also, I would like to know what are the best hand-held HAM radios available and where on the Net I may find them.

Thanks

'Best' depends on your needs and wants. They all have advantages and disadvantages - much like the PRO-96/BC296D comparisons.

I would start with the ARRL web site.

The best radio is only the best radio for what you want to do.

You need to learn a bit more about what you would do with a ham license before anyone could give you a recommendation on teh BEST radio for you.

Other sites for Ham License

both www.qrz.com and www.eham.com have some great practice tests which are free. I used both of those websites after studying the Gordon West preparation manuals (There's nothing better than Gordon West).
I currently hold an Extra Class License, so those resources definitely do the trick!
Take care and good luck!
If I can be of any help, feel free to drop me a line at xxchicago@juno.com.
I am also an Examiner for the tests, so I can probably answer any questions you might have about testing.
