Hamden PD 460.025 has been silent today (9/29). Generally speaking, they are quite busy. New frequency? Did power turn down? System failure? or an incredibly quiet day? (unlikely) or finally...CLMRN?

I'm receiving them loud and clear in Milford. Maybe try 460.025 DCS025 and not 406.025??
Sorry partner, couldn't resist
:p

The original post had 406.025...a typographical error. It was subsequently corrected to correctly read 460.025 and yes, DCS025. I Have three radios (Uniden) plus a portable(Motorola) tuned to this frequency and not a peep. Atmospheric conditions in Woodbridge? After many years of monitoring HPD, that would be quite a surprise. FYI: I do have an elevated antenna farm on my residence rooftop.

Yes I was only teasing about the 406-460 typo. Very interesting though. From Woodbridge I would think you would have a good shot. West Rock might get in the way however, as the transmitter antenna is in the Mix Ave. area I believe. I am receiving them fine on my discone as well as my XTS portables with the rubber ducks here. I really can't compare "usual" signal strengths because I don't usually monitor them on a regular basis to compare to how I normally receive them.

have you gone mobile to determine if there is something local causing interference? I have some signals that I cannot hear at home with my outside antenna but 1/4 mile away I hear it with a handheld scanner.

Doing so is on my today's agenda! Will advise with an update in the PM.

They have had a transmitter problem recently, but they are the same signal strength here in Wallingford

Here's the update...I live in the vicinity of the Route 63 and 67 junction. The driveway is 1.3 miles from the aforesaid junction. Driveway: No HPD signal. Onto Route 67: No signal. Onto Route 63 (towards New Haven: No signal). Reaching the intersection of 63 and Downs Road (one mile from the 63/67 intersection): Bingo, HPD is received fairly loud and clear, but not 5x5. From there I traveled down Downs Road onto Route 69 and then took the side roads through Bethany to ultimately come on to Shepard Ave., Hamden. From Shepard onto Whitney Ave. towards Cheshire, the HPD signal was lost and/or very scratchy by the time I reached Cook Hill Road, Cheshire
I think that either there is a transmitter/repeater issue or there is an antenna issue (base and/repeater site).
In conclusion, I have never encountered a weak signal from Radio Free Hamden in the past!

Hmmmm I heard they reprogrammed the ch 2 Transmitter at the main site to work on ch 1 If they did not swap the antenna cables at the same time, that might be the answer. CH 2's antenna is lower on the tower and is a smaller lower db gain antenna. Hopefully everything gets fixed and put back. It depends on what tech the vendor sends back.

Thank you for shedding light on what appears or appeared to be an uncommon reception situation.
