In a different forum thread here, it was recommended that I ask this here in the state-specific forum...

Trying to decide between PRO106 or its GRE equivalent.

Ex Fire Fighter that still likes to listen. In the counties of Hamilton Butler and Warren, is there a reason to choose a 106 over a GRE, or vice versa?

Does one or the other work better for Hamilton/Butler over Warren, or vice versa (analog vs. digital 800 trunk)?

Just curious.

You are referring to the GRE PSR-500, know that it and the Pro-106 are identical radios on the inside. The only physical difference is that the outer shells are different and they except different firmware upgrades. One does not necessarily receive better than the other, both are made by GRE. The same holds true for the desktop/mobile models as well Pro-197 and PSR-600.

The only other difference is the packaging. The GRE PSR-500 comes with a wal-wart power adapter and programming cable. Those are sold separately from the Pro-106 and if you wish to get those items you must factor in the additional cost.

Both work in equal fashion on the different area radio systems.

If you wish to compare specs, you can click on the 'Wiki' tab above and
navigate to their specific pages.
