The past several days I’ve noticed a trend in dispatching where the University Hospital Mobile Stroke Team is being dispatched as a “unit” for possible stroke patients. I know they transport from regional hospitals, but have only started hearing them being dispatched. What are the parameters for dispatch? Is it now a county wide unit? Unfortunately I wasn’t able to hear anything but the dispatch as I had to step away from the radio.

MSU-1 is a specialized UC Health ambulance based at Springfield Township station 79 on Winton Road and will generally respond to all stroke calls within a 15 minute or so drive from station 79.

They are dispatched by and primarily communicate with Hamilton County but can also be heard on the UC Mobile Care talkgroup.

Columbus Fire has one also, forget offhand what it's called, but it's run in conjunction with the local hospital consortiums (Mt Carmel/St Anns and OhioHealth).

Good to always see an outreach for services where time is of an essence for recovery and for some survival.

Suffering from an atypical form of migraine that mimics stroke-like symptoms, its reassuring that these services exist.
