I noticed in the RR database, there are Safe-T frequencies listed for Hamilton County; however, the system does not seem to be operational. Question...does anyone know the status of Hamilton County going onboard with Safe-T? Also, why would there be frequencies listed, yet the system is not operational in Hamilton County? What is the source of these frequencies? Thanks.

That is just a site..It does not necessarily mean that Hamilton County will use the system, it just means that the state is putting a site there. The info for that site came from the FCC License issued for that site. So far, every site has used the highest frequency as the control channel.

Generally, the IPSC will license a site just prior to getting it operational. However, This time around they licensed about 8 sites at once, so there is no telling where they will start first.

Plug the frequencies into your scanner as conventional frequencies and wait to hear the control channel data noise. Let us know when it comes online! :D

Just had a report that the Hamilton County Site is now online...

I'm not receiving anything at this time; however, I do believe something is going on. On frequency 856.4875 (which is not the listed control channel), I'm getting a loud and continuous buzzing sound...very different from the sound a control channel makes. I'll keep listening. Who did you hear the report from? Thanks

That's usually associated with the repeaters in test mode. I've heard that a few times when new systems have come online in the past.

Thanks for the answer, FPO703. I've been waiting for my county Safe-T site go online; however, I'm not sure if our county police, fire, sheriff and other agencies will come on board and go digital. Our county spent alot of money recently with the installation of two new towers in order to get 100% coverage on our EDACS system. We'll have to wait and see.

Hamilton Co. and SAFE-T

When this site comes online, I assume this should be programmed as a different digital trunked system in a different bank from the Madison County site?

There has been no talk of Hamilton Co. law enforcement agencies joining the SAFE-T system. As the others have posted, they just spent a ton of money upgrading the EDACS system. There are still some problems with coverage in the NE part of the county. To quote Hamilton Co. Sheriff Doug Carter, he thinks the problem can be "solved in software." They had to add towers to address poor coverage in other parts of the county. The poor coverage went on for about 10 years before they finally added the towers.
