It looks like they are joining the growing ranks of agencies en masse around here that are upgrading. Some of these, Hamilton and its next dooe neighbour Halton Region where I live are almost ready to switch over.
The article itself is fair, there are experts who say that the rush to encryption is wrong.
But there are two things that continue to come up about this. First, its officer safety, thats the mantra.
Secondly, this websites part in the York Region incident. It is mentioned, it is remebered by the police and while it wasnt the main reason by far for encryption, this sites attitude towards the incident clearly remains fresh.
And we suffer.
