The new Hancock County EOC is getting ready for their opening day. On October 15th the EOC will have phone lines switch over from the Hancock Co Sheriffs Dept. and Greenfield PD. Dispatchers are presently being trained on the new consoles and computers. Saturday they had an open house for the public. So far it appears the only major issue has been with the computers and officers filing reports as HCSD and GPD use different systems and they don't want to play nice together at the dispatch center.

And as already noted in the SAFET thread the county will switch over to SAFET once the new tower sites are up, at the moment there are too many dead spots but they are using it in limited form with simulcasting all radio traffic as well as using it during special events.

There may be a bump or two in the transition to the new EOC. Apparently one issue is the Fortville fire siren, they have tested it numerous times and for some reason it's not going off, only from the Sheriffs Dept console at the old dispatch center. And it isn't certain how the PD's will be dispatched on one frequency or not....... I guess we'll find out shortly though....
Right now they are apparently on portables for PD dispatch.....

Well they are still dispatching GPD on the old frequency, guess they decided it would be too much for one channel.

Interesting, in the past week I have heard GPD dispatched on both the county and on GPD's channel, then tonight I heard Cumberland dispatch on the county channel and just now on GPD's channel, I'm wondering though if GPD's channel doesn't work better for Cumberland than the counties, it seems on county they have to call 5 or 6 times to get CPD or for CPD to get county.

Poor training and the lack of communication from the coordinator all the way down to the road officer.

I doubt thats the reason, I think it may be more due to radio/reception issues, especially for Cumberland, in which case it's the opposite of what your saying......

For some reason, the Greenfield PD freq sounds much better than the Hancock County Freq. The fire freq also sounds better since the move to the new EOC.

I found the GPD channel reception is better in some places than others, I Cumberland it's fine, in McCordsville it's barely audible, and out west and north it's really bad too, but so is the SO's frequency. I really can't wait til they get the new SAFET sites up and go to that full time.
