I hope some of you can help me. I'm wondering what kind of problems, if any, would occur if I hooked up a handheld scanner (pro 97) to an outside antenna (Scantenna mounted on my roof). Would that configuration cause any ill effects to my scanner? Please help.

I have the Scantenna and had a Pro-97.

It works okay, except it really overloads the scanner. You will have to use global attenuation. You might want to try a Diamond RH77CA http://www.rffun.com/catalog/scanants/2368.html It works really well on VHF-High.

Don't get me wrong, the Scantenna is an awesome antenna. It works EXCELLENT with the Uniden BCT15. The Pro-97 is a great scanner too. It is just too sensitive on the front end to handle the antenna without using the ATT.

You can use ATT and get by pretty good. Don't let me turn you away from the combo, they work good together just use ATT.

I have a BR330T hooked up to a Scantenna/ST-2 and it works fine. No overloading issues and I pick up all sorts of things I'd never heard on the regular antenna. I do not use attenuation but I think the overload issue is may be related to the received not antenna.

I also have the RS 20-176 antenna which works well on the 330...not as well as the Scantenna but it still does great. Most of what I listen to is VHF.

I too used the 330 on the Scantenna (and even the BCD396T on the antenna) and never had overloading problems whatsoever. It was just the Pro-97 and Pro-2055 that I had to use the ATT.

hope not high jack the topic. But do you guys listen to low band. Seems like my 330T sucks in low band it's hook up to a discone. But once I hook it up to an old BC 244 CLT picks up low band fine?

Not sure what specifically you mean by low band but I have a number of local agencies on 46.1000 and the 330 does great. In fact most of them come from counties pretty far away.

Yes..I do receive 36 to 46Mhz on my 330 with no problems...and as I said most of that "low band" stuff is fairly far away and it still comes in great.
