Handhelds wont talk to different model

Hi there
A while ago brought some Motorola T9550 radios.. finally got around to using them, and they won't work with our older Motorola radios which I think are SX700s
I have checked all settings and made sure the privacy on the SX700 is turned off, but they won't communicate together at all.
Have spent HRS trying to get it sorted.
The SX700 will talk to other branded radios, Unidens etc, so I'm presuming the issue is with the T9550
I'm sure we're overlooking something.

I would think that if they were using the same mode, frequency, and 'tones' if any, that they would at least be heard by your other radios. If not, then I have to suspect that one of those things was set wrong.

I know nothing about Ham - if this is in the wrong section, then please move it to the right one.
I though being a big radio site I may get some help..

I've spend HOURS with these radios.
Gone through every channel and setting and no go with others.
Its like UHF and VHF almost

Aren't we supposed to use this site to help each other out and not criticize. A simple "Sorry but this isn't the correct thread or section for this topic. Possibly the Motorola section would be better" would have sufficed.
