Hanover County

I have a bearcat 250D and it is next to impossible for me to pick up Hanover's 800 system. I have it set up as an EDACS Wide system. It seems taht the RF signal is WAAAAAAAAAAAY low, even when I"m in the heart of hanover. I can hear the F/R DISP VHF simulcast with no problems.

Anyone have any ideas? Anyone have a .mem file for arc250 pro that they could send me with Hanover in it?

Hanover's towers have very directional antennas that point inward to the county. If you dont live in Hanover or closely around it... then your reception will not be very good.

Also, sad to say, that even inside the county there are dead spots that the signal has a hard time covering regardless.

The tower sites are as follows:

1. Poor farm park (behind Patrick Henry HS)
2. East End (Finney Farm/Pole Green Rd)
3. Montpeilier (just off 33)
4. Courthouse (shortest tower, just north of the courthouse off 301)
5. (suppoedly to be built)

I can get good general reception in the car with a good antenna and cruising around Henrico and inside Hanover. I have very little luck where I live in Western Richmond City. If I use an elevated outdoor antenna, I have better luck.

Going along with the other comment that there are dead spots in hanover is very true. When we respond to calls some of our units have terrible reception and yes there are some very bad reception areas. The good news is that hanover is in the process of updating its radio systems!
