Battalion Chief Jeff Phipp's funeral service was today at 1100. Hanover County Fire/EMS units from stations across the county attended the service. Because so many units were out of service on the funeral assignment, stations were backfilled with staff from surrounding agencies. Since about 0800 this morning, I have heard units from Chesterfield (BC202, E207, TK212), Goochland (E621, E651, M620, M630), Henrico (BC302, E306, E321, M312, M314, TK319), and New Kent (E505, M595, TNK503). I have really appreciated how smoothly the radio interoperability has worked. Has anyone else been monitoring this traffic?

Regional radio interoperability was worked fantastically over the past several years including the funerals for Chief Phipps, Lieutenant Clark, Firefighter O'Connell, and Recruit Firefighter Eldridge; it's also working well on the daily automatic- and mutual-aid calls for service.
