While programming the digital stuff for Hanover County, VA, I noticed the first frequency listed is 851.00625, however, when trying to input that it defaults to 851.0000. Since some of the other frequencies are .4625, that is what I ended up entering. Was the first one a typo? I live in Western Henrico, and while I'm getting some radio traffic, the voice is somewhat distorted sounding. I am currently living in a townhouse, so I don't have an outside antenna. Any tips are welcome!

The 851.00625 is how the frequency was submitted. That doesn't mean the submitter didn't make a mistake. The frequency doesn't show to be licensed anywhere in the state of VA; indeed, I am not sure it is even a valid frequency given the current splits. However, programming it in 796D would result in it going to 851.0000 or 851.0125, in any case having it should not cause a problem since it would never be ordered to go to that frequency by the control channel. So that is not what your reception problem is tied to.

Thank you Lou. I think perhaps the direction my building faces is a hindrance. The signal strength indicator bars for my Richmond bank are not as strong as the other localities on the metro Richmond shared P25 system....1-2 bars for the city vs 4-5 for the counties. Although Hanover is kind of a separate P25 system, I am getting only 1-2 bars on my Hanover bank as well. Can you recommend a good indoor antenna that would be an improvement over the telescopic piece supplied with the radio? I have a magnetic mount mobile scanner antenna that I have tried in the window sill, but it performs worse than the stock antenna.

I was the one that submitted the frequencies for the system. I agree that it seemed odd, but that is what is displayed when I run Pro96Com and Unitrunker on the system. I haven't seen any voice carried on that frequency, but it has been used for data and CWID.

In that case, thank you for your efforts! My primary interest is in the fire department tac channels.

I wonder if you have actually heard data or the CW ID on that frequency or are you relying on the log/readout from Pro96Com and UniTrunker for that information. Where I am going with this is that it is possible that both Mike and Rick need to look at this if the programs are actually reporting a frequency that isn't being used.
