Im thinking about getting a Uniden Home Patrol 1 to go along with my RS PRO-106. It says the HP-1 Is preprogrammed with freq from this sites database. I checked out my county, and its not updated to what my county uses, witch uses 800mhz along with some fire depts using older freq. Is the HP-1 going to have the newer freq's? dont want to spend 500+ bucks, and it not have all the lastest info. Thanks.

Looking at the latest Home Patrol database in the software (Sentinel), it shows a number of entries for both the county, and the cities, as well as the 800MHz trunked system.

The data that ships with the scanner is probably out of date, but once you install Sentinel (the included free software) on your pc, and get the latest updates, also downloading those to the scanner, you'll be ready for the next step. To set up the HP-1, enter your location, desired listening range, and the types of channels you want to monitor, then the scanner will build your favorites list (what it scans) based on that. The database is updated each week, based on updates submitted by members. The new update is usually posted on Mondays, unless there is some kind of problem that causes a one or two day delay, and includes any changes made up to the previous Sunday. (Example- The Monday 12/31 update should have changes made up to Sunday 12/30.)
See below for what currently shows for Hardin. That's a partial screen shot from Sentinel.

Got the HP-1 yesterday, so far, very pleased. Seems like im only missing a couple of Freq that i have on my Pro-106. Got the 106 at RS too, and they programmed it for me. One of the freq, that seems to be missing on the HP-1 is Acadian EMS 857.712500, which is on my 106, but dont get on the HP-1. Another is Hardin County Sheriff's dept Tac 1, is another i pick up on the 106, but got nothing from it on the HP-1. Im all new to the HP-1, and it software that it came with. So any help would be grat Appreciated.

If there are any frequencies that you want in the Home Patrol that are not in the database, or that haven't been updated yet, and you know what they are.... you can just create a favorites list in Sentinel, put your frequencies in that list, upload it to Home Patrol, and then select it for scanning.

Or better yet, submit the frequencies to RR and then anyone else in your area will have them. That is the beauty of the HP1 and the lineage of RR! We the folks out there listening to scanners submit new info we hear and it gets posted to RR! Which means anyone using the DB will have it in their scanner with a few keystrokes. As a lot of users here I have been submitting info to RR for a very long time, and it has been a mutually beneficial relationship. Wish I had time to submit more, but spending more time with amateur radio than my scanners...

Click the Database tab...then click the submit info tab. If the EMS freq is a standalone 800 freq, submit it as such! If the SO Tac 1 is part of a trunked system, you have to figure out the TG and etc. Once you start to read the submissions and listings you will see what you need to submit. Actually that is one of the great parts of this...finding new information and sharing it.

The 857.7125 you have in your 106 as being used by Acadian is part of the Jefferson Co. RRS, specifically one of the frequenices on the Silsbee site. I thought that Acadian was on the trunked system almost entirely in east TX. Since you say RS programmed the 106 for you, I would doubt that the particular assignment of that frequency as belonging to Acadian is correct.

I sent you a private message about it. It's information that I not feel comfortable about giving out to everyone.

Thanks,
