BCD396XT/BCD996XT: Hardshell case needed

Trying to find a hard shell (Outside cover) For a 996xt..Get this i called uniden parts and they don't even have a part number listed according to the gentelman i spoke with..Any help appreciated..Or if you have a parts scanner i would pay 50.00+ shipping for your spare..Thanks

The BCD996XT was DISCONTINUED MID 2015. That probably means Uniden doesn’t support it anymore. That’s not to say if you sent it in to them they won’t find a cover for it. (The 996XT is a base/Mobil version, not the handheld 396XT. You asked about the 996XT-just checking to see if you didn’t list the correct radio.)) Perhaps a search for anyone who has a broken one would work for you? I know if I had a bad one kicking around I’d sell it for $50 as a “For parts only” radio... but I don’t.

Yes but the 996P2 has the same case and they say no such spare part avalible..

That's odd when you think about it. Many owners have removed the case to mount the scanner in-dash by removing the case and using a DIN sleeve. Later should they decide to use is in the house as a stand alone they would want the case. Uniden should sell them. There are probably a lot of owners have the case sitting in a box down in the basement or up in their attic. Maybe post in the classifieds WANTED section.

All good points. The outer sleeve is the same on all 3 variations of the 996. Maybe the guy looked up parts under the XT model and it read discontinued. That would mean the guy had no working knowledge of the scanner line. But Uniden has many product lines so call them back and ask if they have the sleeve for any of those three models. It’s got to be cheaper than the $50 you offered to pay.
