I have a Unication pager and use it to monitor fire department and EMS calls. It does an excellent job, but does not (I don't think) provide information about trunking systems. I am planning to make a number of field trips to other cities and would like to determine the SysID, WACN, NAC and identify new talkgroups.

Please suggest an expensive way to do this. I am thinking that this could be done using a Software Defined Radio dongle etc. However, when I look at UniTrunker I do not see where it would provide this information. I seem to remember that years ago "Trunker" (not UniTrunker) provided this information, however I cannot seem to find Trunker (but I found and installed Unitrunker). I do not want to purchase a digital scanner just for this, the Unication works fine for my monitoring.

I hear that unit unitrunker is the best for logging, however I personally haven't used it.

The least expensive way will be an SDR dongle and unitrunker or SDRTrunk. DSDPlus fastlane is another option as well but it costs $ and does the same as the other 2 pieces of software

SDRTrunk will do exactly what you want using a cheap RTL dongle connected to an antenna. Plenty of info on Google to get you started.

Once a CC is added, tuned, and is actively decoding, click on it then look below in the Details tab for the information.

It's all there. Active calls appear on the Calls tab of the Site window. The NAC appears on the Info tab of the Site window and on the Sites tab of the system window. There's a Groups tab on the system window listing all discovered talkgroups. WACN and SysID are in the window caption of the System and Site windows.

Thanks, looks like I will be going with Unitrunker. Hope to order a dongle (NesDr Smartee) this Wednesday.

Thank you. I already have Unitrunker installed (but with no dongle yet) but SDRTrunk may be the more advanced way to do things now. I will have to get up to speed on it.

Wow! Thank you. I have Unitrunked installed but since I do not have a dongle the Site window would never come up. It turns out that this window has most of the information I am looking for. I should have my NesDr Smartee dongle this week and then I should be able to get to the information. Thanks.
