OK, does anybody have the scoop on this. What kind of progress being made, number of towers, Roll out date etc. etc. etc. I haven't heard anything in a while, and wanted to know what's up

Actually I never saw that. Thanks for posting it. That article says 05, while the database says 04. Finnaly some sort of information. All I knew until now was that the Harford county TRS popped up one day. And nobody else said a word about it. At least I know what's supposed to happen. I bet it'll go on-line later then said in the article.

I wanted to let you know that the system is coming along they have most of the infastructure in at the tower sites & they are working twds getting the Tolgate tower built & the Lapidum tower taller. There are a few other things that are going on as well, the system will be up around late 2004 early 2005.
Also I want to let everyone know that what has been posted on other sites about certain agencies using the system and that people can't understand why well I will explain.
1. FBI will be on the system as an interoprable w/local law enforcement agencies since they have a resident office in Bel Air.
2. APG will have radio's on the system not to be used for their own operations but to be used for interoperability w/the Fire Dept as some of us may know Station 12 Aberdeen & Edgewood run Mutual Aid into Harford County like crazy. Also APG police will use the system for the same reason if they need Assistance or if they back up Harford County.
---Really folks they have there own Gverment System that does not have many users do you think they are going to just drop it & go to the New Digital system I DONT THINK SO.
3.The Maryland State Police is going to use the System & cross patch in 39.340 as well just like every other jurisdiction has. As well as the Fire Marshall will use the system since they have a regional office in Bel Air also DNR and Forestry will have radios for interoprability as well since they have a regional office in Bel Air and several state parks in Harford County
4. All the towns will use the system & from what I understand from my friend that is on the Radio System Committee that the different towns will have their own channel for chit chat & admin stuff but the patrol units will be dispatched by the sheriff dept on the respective talkgroup north or south dispatch.
Sorry this is so long but I have seen discussions on other forums not on this site that people as been misinformed about what certain entitty will be on the trunked system & why and that they are just going to up & stop using their radio systems.
Well if I can answer anything else for you I will try to do my best I have just received a flyer on the progress of the system & will take the keys issues & post them here asap. Also I am a member of a Harford County Fire Company & will get the info about the system on this site as it comes to me

6 exisiting towers Hickory, Madonna, Joppa, Lapidum, Stoney Forest & Whiteford and 3 new towers Tolgate, Kingsville & Conowingo

I thought Kingsville was in Baltimore Co. Fire Station #48? Thanks for the info.
Kingsville is in Balto Co
The Tower Site is in Balto Co right on the Line & the coverage is needed in the Route 1 corridor in the valleys of the gunpowder so that is why it has been put there

The Control Channel for the Harford Co system is up & running but only from 1 site which is in Hickory @ their headquarters. Was told by my source from Harford Co. that they plan to have the the system up online for testing with in the next month or 2 & they hope to have the voice system fully online & working by October or November & the Data part of the system by 2005. This is all tenative at this time we all know how things go.

am just curious about one thing you said....
All police agencies will be dispatched by HCSO? Is that the way it is now? I haven't been up there in a real long time but I always figured havre de grace and bel-air and aberdeen were all more than big enough to warrant their own dispatch...

All three Local agencies have dispatchers at this time. But from what I was told that all of the agencies will be dispatched off of the respective North/South Sheriff Talkgroups. But it just does not make any sense to me cause Bel Air is split in 1/2 by the North/South Talkgroup line(if an officer stands in the middle of rt.1 does he switch to north or south???)
Well anyway I think they should Dispatch their own as they have been for years and just scan the other talkgroups as they do now to assist other agencies or get the heads up on a BOLO.
Also some BAD NEWS word on the street is POLICE will be Encrypted.

Harford County TRS
Anything new in reference to the Harford Count system? I bought a Uniden 796D primarly to listen to this system and still have not programmed any trunking information into it. I just ordered the AR 250 software, and will likely try some of the Baltimore County files to see if I can get it to work, but realy don't have much interest in anything but the local traffic.

Any update on the new system- haven't been listening too much. I saw they have the Joppa tower almost done. I haven't heard anymore out of the one talkgroup I had picked up- which sounded like police.
Any more info from EOC???

I thought I was picking something up on Harford County- very clear- 80-90% peak for reception. I unlocked the next to last freq on the list (868.775)- turns out it is the control channel for Louden County. VA- which, surprisingly, came in clear up in Harford County- the system ID for Louden County even matched- 6B1D. Just to let people know- it may not be what you think.

Hey Folks,
Just an update to the Radio mess in Harford County they have turned the control channel back on @ Hickory. The testing for the new Radio System is slated for August 31st with 6,000 Grid Squares to be checked.
I will be one of the System Testers and will let everyone know how the testing goes if I find anything further I will write.

Harford Co's Trunked radio System is now offically on the Air (all sites are now functional). Tuning and Testing of Antennas and Shelter Radio's are being done now for the best possible Signal. Harford Co. will start a Full out assault on testing Sept. 7 with over 6,000 Grid Squares to be tested not only for the Trunked system but the Paging system as well.

Do you know when they plan to start simulcasting their UHF onto the trunk?
No I don't know when they will start simulcasting but it should be after the testing is done.
