To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello,
Does anyone have any ideas as to why an m7300 would be stuck in program mode? I have written to it several times to see if it would knock it out of program mode and did the ECP reboot with no luck.

I was getting a PERSDATA ERROR=0502 but I believe that has been fixed just stuck in program mode with program on the screen.

Thanks in advance.

Reprogram it with a simple conventional frequency and see if that works.
I have tried that. I made a new blank code plug with a simplex conventional frequency, and it still does not work. Stays stuck in program mode. The radio is accepting the codeplug because when you read it the simple codeplug is in the radio.

Rewrite the burnapp, bootapp, and firmware. Also, make a back up of your Feature set if you haven't already.

I have used both. Mainly been messing with rpm2. I understand the error code is something enabled that the radio is not featured for but would that keep the radio in program mode also?

click on the horn ( voice annunciation ) you will see format flashdrive on the bottom right , click on that and that should get rid of any programming in the radio that could be causing the issue and try to write a fresh personality , make sure you have your radio selection made in the tools tab as well

Did you ever try the voice annunciation window and format flash drive? That’s worked several times in these weird situations.

DO NOT ASK ME FOR HELP PROGRAMMING YOUR RADIO. NO.
Did you read it before you wrote to it? If you blew an old version file into it and the firmware is too new, you'll have to reflash the firmware. That may get tricky.

Always check to see if you can read a new radio with your version of RPM or RPM2 before attempting to write to it.

If you put the wrong personality in it, you really should use the format flash drive option in the voice annunciation section. It will leave firmware, burn, boot, enc… it just completely erases the part of the memory where personalities and VA files are stored. It’s fixed some pretty frustrating problems in the past…

Tried it twice. States format flash drive failed. The radio returned error.
