• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

It means there's no communication between the control head and the radio chassis. Check your CAN cable and CAN terminators, as well has power to the chassis. If it's a front mount, you'll probably have to crack open the radio to see what's going on. There's a few reasons a front mount might do that, but not nearly as common as with a remote mount radio.

I have an all band Harris M7300 mobile radio that I use for amateur radio and GMRS use (VHF and UHF) with an all band antenna and after a few seconds the other persons traffic gets distorted prior to doing ANY transmissions. Depending on the person determines how bad it is. I know some regular ham branded radios sound hot as it is I.E. Yaesu. I’m curious if this is a band selection issue in the software of my radio or the radio itself ? Maybe a speaker issue ? Typically if it was the radio I’m sure it would heat up as I’ve had this issue in the past with a Motorola and it would be too hot to touch after doing some transmitting as well as my audio sounding distorted but this radio is fine. I’m being heard and commented on how great my audio is so I’m stummped. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance !

There is a lot going on in this post. Can you say more about the distortion? The fact that it varies based on who's talking seems odd. Could it be a wideband repeater programmed narrowband, or vice versa?

I apologize for not explaining things correctly but I’m trying lol. While using the VHF, UHF side of things for local ham repeater use the voices on the other end are distorted, like it’s off frequency. When I transmit I get great comments on my audio. Some suggest I get the radio “tuned” but I have the slightest clue on how to go down that road. Thank you
