Ya, those high density 44pin connectors can be a little tricky to solder and there is at least one pin that has the supply voltage on it when the radio is on. When I make custom cables, after I have everything soldered, I always slip a piece of heat shrink over that hot pin and put a drop of super glue after I shrink it to make sure the heat shrink doesn’t slip off.
The CAN and speaker ports do look similar. They are both Conxall parts, CAN is three pin and speaker is two pin. If you’re using the rig mobile, find an option cable, but if you are using it as a base station, you can get a 44pin screw terminal breakout like the one pictured below… depending on what’s available on the second hand market, it may be much cheaper, but I would never go this route in a vehicle.
