• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Sorry your programmer bailed. But you are SOL, no one here in their right mind will program anything P25 trunking for you. There are far too many risks involved.
I’m just getting it to listen to my local sheriff office there’s nothing illegal about that i’m not transmitting or doing anything thing that’s illegal and or not allowed

Most of the Harris radios can track a P25 trunked system without needing system keys or any of the "non-affiliate scan" stuff necessary on Motorola radios.
You are correct, nothing illegal or not allowed since it doesn't require bootlegging a system key or risk of transmitting where you are not licensed.

Finding someone with RPM software, cable for that radio, and the knowledge to do it correctly may be a challenge.

The radio also needs to have the correct feature set to support P25 Trunking and be the correct band.

Thank you for the nice response it’s all the correct band and everything as well thanks you for your time!

OK.

So, yeah, finding people that will actually do it may be difficult. Most radio techs don't work cheap, and programming a radio from scratch on a trunked system takes a lot of time. Plus, unless they are local, some of it is kind of trial and error since they can't be there to actually check the stuff.

The agency radio shop likely will not help you unless you had the support of the agency, even for RX only.

So, finding a person with the knowledge, RPM software, cable, and willingness may be difficult. Then you have to pay them, and they get to pick the price.

Which is another reason to get a scanner. Buying trunking capable radios, like the XTS and Harris can get expensive unless you have the skills/software/cable to do it yourself.

Ok, it's my understand that any version of RPM above 11(?) requires an AAC or a hacked version...but I could be wrong.

I very specifically will not **** around with this stuff, so I'm going off documentation I have. I have not tried it. I'm not going to try it. If I need access to a trunked system, I go through the system admin. If I didn't have permission from the sysadmin, I'd buy a scanner.

That’s why I never understood all the people saying get a Harris radio. Sure you can make it not affiliate, but you still need hacked RPM. Or that’s my understanding anyway.

I believe that given the age of the P7200, below 11 is almost certainly required and I'm not sure if ProGrammer requires a key or not. Regardless, I believe the 7100/7200 may be one of the only radio series that can do true NAS without an AAC.

The P7200 is supported all the way up to the last version of RPM. RPM10B and earlier didn't have the AAC requirement. However, RPM10B did have 6 or 7 system ID's that were requested to be restricted from being programmed by unauthorized users. Programmer doesn't require or use WACN 'System' keys.
