• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Recently acquired a Harris unity from work since they were upgrading to the new xl series radio.
I am currently using rpm 14c05 radio firmware is XGP R05C05.
All systems are set to rx only and is correctly indicated on the display.

Radio recieves perfectly, but when in system scan it stops scanning after the the 1st talk group it hears and won't pickup another talkgroup unless it is a pri 1 or pri 2 talkgroup.

After each transmission I have to start stop scan for it to scan again.

I have tried custom scan list as well but that didn't stop it from occuring either.

Hoping to get some advice I haven't seen any other posts on this problem.

Does it ever revert to scanning? How long have you waited? There is a hang time setting under scan options. I haven’t messed with it on a trunking system, but it’s designed to sit on a received channel for an amount of time before beginning to scan again.

It’s something to look at at least…

I believe I have it set to 0 I will double check, I have a G5 and it's picking up other traffic so I know I'm missing traffic. Sometimes it reverts back to scanning but it seems temperamental.

Try setting your hang time to 2 seconds.
Irregardless, you can still miss a call, like first come-first served.
Make all your TGs priority II unless you have a preference for a specific talk group.
I recall at least 1 TG has to be a priority.

I'm amazed that was so simple it did the trick it returns back to the selected channel and scans thank you! Was worried it was a firmware bug and I haven't been able to figure out how to update to the latest haha.
Thanks for the assistance!

I’m running XLP R06P01….
on conventional let’s say I have a system (FRS/GMRS for any fcc enforcement officers reading this) using MDC and tone encode on different channels.. if I tx while scan is active (usually happens on a chan with tone encode) the radio gets stuck in transmit..

Hmmm… never had this happen, but I’m usually not using tone encode of any sort. What’s your hang time and what are your scan settings? PTT scanned? PTT selected? Resume scan after PTT? Does this happen every time or at random? I’d set the hang time to .5 seconds and see if that does anything for you.

I've not encountered this issue performing that exact operation on XLPR06G03. Perhaps a bug introduced in that version of the firmware?
