Hello I wanted to know how many channels can the radio hold. I looked at the manual and couldn't find it. Could someone help me out please.

To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.
The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Same as most other Harris radios, 1024 frequencies, unique names, group names. If you reuse any of them more than once they don't count against the total.
I think the theoretical max is somewhere around 14,000 total.

So you can have 14,000 UHF channels since the radio is a single band radio. Is that more than what the Motorola XTS5000 and XTS2500 can hold?

Most of them have the same physical limits, what is enabled by features is another story.
Yes, you could have all 14,000 as UHF as long as you didnt go over the 1,024 unique limit. I will post a link to my blog that has the limits straight from the manual.
