Okay I am hearing scuttlebutt about a new radio called the XL 400? Anyone know anything about it thanks

To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.
To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.
The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

So, a dual band version of the XL-200. I guess maybe to get some smaller markets, lower cost, etc.
It will also do UHF. It is basically a ruggedized XL200 with a few more features.

I know the XL200 will do VHF, UHF, 7/8/900MHz, but didn't see UHF on the FCC grant.
So, this is a ruggedized version of the XL200? Aimed a fire service? Any idea why the UHF isn't shown on the FCC grant?
I'm looking at about 35 XL-200's for our PD, but probably won't purchase most of those until later on this year. We don't need ruggedized radios, but VHF and 7/800 would be fine for some users.

Yeah, WiFi. The XL-200's and some of the other models have that. Along with LTE, 2.4GHz wifi, bluetooth, etc.
Not sure why that chart omits UHF. L3Harris is trying hard to sell us on the XL-400P and we are strictly UHF. I don't think they'd try to sell us a radio that wouldn't work on our system.

Got it.
Makes me wonder if they are doing like EF Johnson with a VHF-7/800 model and a UHF-7/800 model.
We also interop with 7/800 and VHF. They are telling us that it will be a full spectrum radio. Of course, with larger knobs, heat resistant mics, rugged housing, etc.

OK, cool. Mine will be for PD use, so no need for that stuff.
There were some cool features. One was an intersquad wifi intercom. The heat rated speaker mic and cable was rated to ridiculous temps.

Yes this is a fire radio that meets the new NFPA standard. I can't say much more than that at this point.

Expect to see the XL95p soon as well. Demo radios of it are out there. Its basically a XG75p with XL software and wifi being billed as a budget radio using XG accessories.
