I've recently been actively monitoring the Harrison County EDACS as of late, and have been picking up some new talkgroups not listed in the database. I'll be updating this thread with the new talkgroups as they appear and try to identify their users.

But first, something I'm notcing. I'm missing parts of the conversations. My 785D will be in ID SEARCH mode and I'll see AFS id's appear on my display but won't hear anything out of the scanner.

I read some where that this was due to not having the complete LCNs, which would make sense. If I'm missing one or more frequencies then I'm going to miss conversations when ever that talkgroup hits those repeaters. Here is where I need the help...

This is the LCNs I have in my scanner:
01-866.1500
02-866.4000
03-866.6750
04-866.9500
05-867.2000
06-867.5625
07-867.8250
08-868.1000
09-868.5125
10-868.7625

I need for anyone who has been listening to this TRS to tell me, am I using the correct LCNs? Can you identify any that are missing from the list above?

How can I determin the LCN. What is the process of determining it? I have two or 3 radios capable of scanning the 800mhz band so I can track down conversations but would like to know how it works. A link to a site would be fine.

With in the past 24 hours I've found these talkgroups come up...

AFS: DESCP:
15-157 Heard two-tone signaling paging with request to goto pass rd.
05-081 Heard two-tone signaling paging on here with no voice
04-140 Heard Radio Maintenance testing 12345, 54321 a few times.
07-010 Heard what sounded like radio maintenance testing.

Another interesting tidbit I have come across...

While in ID SEARCH mode, you'll pickup all of the i-call's. I've noticed that all of the i-call's that come through this TRS are Law Enforcement. So even though their dispatch tg's are provoice, it seems that i-call is analog, or some of it is analog. Because I'm hearing law enforcement conversations in the clear when icall id's pop up...

Still missing conversations due to the lcn issue... really want to resolve this.

OK here is how to find LCN....

You will need two 800 capable scanners.
Have one coventionally scanning the system, another tracking system.
Listen to the conversations.... when you get one tg id'ed, follow it on the conventional. Log the freqs it hops too....yes its not easy with the EDACS beeps... but it can be done. This will take time and effort. After a while you should have a list of the freqs in order of hops, this is the LCN. If you have most of the LCN's known already, then this will be much easier than if you had no clue as to any LCN's. If you have a PRO-92/2067, or a good Bearcat, or the PRO-96, it will tell you what chan the CC is in the lineup. Once you have all the proper LCN's then you will only miss the PV TG's.

As for new TG's, do they fit with any already known TG's??

Example: 10-021 Police dispatch (Known)
10-022 Police Tactical (Known)
10-024 Unknown but evidence supports that car to car traffic is on it..
Logically that would fit in as Police Car to Car, thus you now are filling in the blanks....

In most EDACS TG lineups, they make sense and fall into a pattern,.. sometimes this is true on Motorola systems, but not all the time.

Look at the -157 TG, it fits with the known -156 TG,...

I'm still in an identifying status of these talkgroups...

the 05-XXX appears to be fire service mostly, and the only listed one for 15-XXX is 15-156 which is HC VFD Dispatch. 15-157 might be an alternate or primary VFD dispatch. I know jackson county TRS has 2 talkgroups for dispatch. FIRE 1 and FIRE 2 it seperates the east and west part of the county.

Nothing so far on on here has identified the 04-140 and 07-010 tg's. No idea who the users are yet. the only L.E. listed is 06-081 being gpt pd.

As for the LCN stuff... I have my 785D which is the only tracking scanner I have, and I have a BC-760XLT which is a mobile scanner (conventional) but with 800mhz coverage. And I have a few portable receivers with 800mhz coverage. I'll take one of those and scan between 864mhz and 870mhz and try to track the frequencies that these conversations are falling within... That shouldn't be too difficult. I just need to ride the scan button when it stops on digital traffic. heh. :p

LOL true.... Maybe you can find other Gulfport PD TG's,... As well as get the whole lineups for AMR, County EOC, any Biloxi Analog TG's.... And any rural Law Enforcement Analog TG's.

As busy as Biloxi FD, I have YET to hear ANYTHING on this damn radio that is Biloxi related....

Speaking of 15-157 I just heard another tone out...

Female operator on 15-157 two-tone signaling paged out for a medical emergency on 39th ave which is a road that borders along the SEABEE base in Gulfport, moments after the tone out, engine 12 went 10-8 on 05-041 Gulfport Fire Dispatch. So apparently 15-157 may be Gulfport Alarm.

I've been goofing off far too long now. I'm going to try to get more data for harrison county overall.

Also believe I id'ed one of the public works talkgroups...

08-055 sounds like gulfport public works, a female came on the tg earlier to dispatch someone to hwy 49 and pass rd for a malfunctioning traffic light. BTW 08-055 was not in the list on the DB.

##UPDATE##

Another Dispatch on 15-157 For a medical emergency on Reese Drive in West Gulfport... Right after the traffic went out on 15-157, an engine company responded on 05-141 (west harrison co fd) and then another engine company responded to the same call on 05-147 (saucier vfd).

So it doesn't look like 15-157 is Gulfport Alarm. It looks like 15-157 is Harrison County Fire Dispatch. But its not just VFD because Gulfport was dispatched earlier so it seems like its a county wide dispatch talkgroup.

Found another tg, 08-070 - female talking to a male stating that his truck was ready, it sounded like normal chatter, nothing official.

FIRE 2 is hardly ever used...

FIRE 1 is the primary dispatch tg and should always be monitored. Any VFD that is toned out for a call will come across FIRE1 and their department's tg at the same time. Then the responding units come up on FIRE1 and go 10-8 or request addt. information or services. Then they switch back to their department's tg and communicate commands and info there...

FIRE2 was suppose to be all WEST departments... But its never used like that. So maybe 15-156 is an alternate dispatch tg? I'm hearing all kinds of dispatching on 15-157 but nothing on 15-156 (yet).

So most likely an EOC multipatch dispatch, simular to the one Jackson/Hinds EOC used to have on the City of Jackson EDACS before they got onboard the Hinds Motorola system.

Regarding Biloxi,.. I would imagine PD is Provoice.. not sure if FD would be also,.. but that is a possibility,... Surprised that Gulfport PD has an analog TG at all.

well i've been listening for a couple of days all day at work, something I usually don't do, and so far I haven't heard a single FD call come up on the radio yet. But I know their habbits. I know how often they get calls and what the dispatch sounds like. I use to listen all the time on their vhf channel.

I'm beginning to wonder if they went provoice as well. I use to be a firefighter for gautier, and two former gautier firefighters are now on biloxi's. I might try getting up with one of them and seeing if they can tell me if they are using digital or analog.

OK. I'll tell you all what I've found out so far. There are two systems in Harrison county. Both are ProVoice EDACS. One is Gulfport and the other is Biloxi. I have the correct LCN for the Gulfport system at the office. There are a few more frequencies that need to be added to the listed LCN in the database. I have not had the time to figure out Biloxi yet. I will post the rest of the Gulfport LCN when I get my notes from work. I have part of the Biloxi system. I will try to get over there and figure out the rest soon as I can. I assume that both systems have common talkgroups or something as I don't believe that they are simulcast. They are separate. As I find out more I'll let you know. By the way, the frequencies and licience numbers are on the FCC site and in Police call. I'll post them when I get home.

Biloxi years ago was going to go with its own TRS,... but the liscense was allowed to expire,.. and last heard was they were going with the county system. I will do some digging to see if there is anything new, or pending in the FCC db for Biloxi.

It means that the hobby is still alive...

ANYWAY- The only really intersting thing I found for that area is this:

Pending for Long Beach FD-
460.56250000
Mobiles only so far on this.... Perhaps a Fireground mobile repeater.

I'm thinking this is the license numbers for the systems in Harrison county. I have them at work and will double check. Anyway, there are two systems in Harrison county. Try WPUL244 and WPZI235. WPUF811 is for the I-call or tac frequencies.

These are really all part of the one countywide EDACS TRS. The only liscenses that biloxi has seperate that are not expiring next year are the new Water and Sewer ones,.. and the Microwave freqs for BPD. 2,000 + MHz is microwave correct? WEG
