I saw a note on the DB that said that the system was moving to P25. I have a friend moving down to the area and he is needing some assistance programming, does anyone have an updated timeline that they may be bringing the P25 online?

I know I’ll get downvoted for this but honestly, I wouldn’t be in a hurry for them to transition to P25, we all know too well what seems to follow.

Their comms are pretty much wide open right now, ProVoice will be gone soon enough.

AMR wants to swap asap because they are under the microscope since they are on the chopping block due to blown response times and are actively monitored by the public to hear dispatch vs arrival times.

But to answer the OP, as others mentioned i wouldnt hold your breath for anyone on the provioice system moving to p25. They said they would move over a year ago and here we are, not seeing any movement that direction except for the RFQs for radios that are provoice and p25 p2 capable.

As a loosely-related question, anyone know what's up with the EDACS system this week? Been in and out constantly. Where I used to have phenomenal service, now my portable is dropping the control channel constantly; sometimes I find myself talking in to the system from the East simulcast when I'm way west, etc.

Everyone else seems to be having the same issues.

I have not noticed any issues like this. I am about 4 blocks from the 15th Ave tower and can monitor it her in the house with no antenna connected to the scanner.

AMR got the boot in Biloxi. Pafford took over last week.
They had better get their act together!

Whatever it is, it's pervasive. I talked to PCPD today and they stated it was driving them bonkers; Long Beach was openly remarking on it over the air in frustration, and one Gulfport Sgt told me he's just going to start using his phone instead of the radio.

My XG75 just keeps displaying CC SCAN (losing the control channel signal) and beeping...Which is also amazing for battery life.

How do you like the XG-75? I liked them a lot.
We ran P7100's for years, then the XG-75 and then XL-200's right before I retired.
I really liked our EDACS system and the Harris equipment.

Not the biggest fan. We get the non-keypad models and, since the County/ComSouth/CI/whomever it was did an "upgrade" on them, we're reduced to only having dispatch channels and the EOC...Prior to the dubious "upgrade", they held nearly every talkgroup on the system :(

My former employer fielded XL200s and I like them, just not the way they had developed the codeplug.

I just dislike having 2 radios to juggle.

At one point they were going to an L3 Harris P25, then they talked MSWIN... Now who knows, have not looked at the MSWIN minutes in a minute lol.. SO no idea who is next to commit... Still waiting on City Of Jackson to move fully over like they said they were, not just PD/FD. As for JFD and EMS issues, they should never have dropped their own ambulances to go AMR in the first place. Now they are going to have to start from scratch with rebuilding an EMS service of their own again, not cheap.

City of Jackson is fully moved to MSWIN...only Jatran still uses old system and only because they didn't want to buy new radios for the buses.
