I use a BCT-15 and I have been having difficulty tuning in to the Hartford EDACS system (specifically the fire talkgroups). I am just outside the city limits, so theoretically it should work, and I don't get the "Searching For Control Channel" errors. I programmed it using BcTool, I may do it again manually for good measure. I assume reception shouldn't be an issue in general because I can pick up West Hartford from as far as New Haven County.

Has anyone else had problems?

I've got the BCT15 UASD files if you want them. I stopped receiving them at one point and realized that I had somehow put a 6 instead of an 8 in part of one of the frequencies.

By the way, I'm receiving everything on their system crystal clear on 1-1-09 at 01:19 in Wethersfield

Thought they did something to the system, turns out when I updated the programming information, the LCNs were somehow modified and rendered the system unable to be monitored.

Whoops.. Next time I do it, I am going to have to add the site manually

The Hartford system doesn't reach terribly far outside of the city. When I lived about 10 exits north of the city, it came in depending on the weater/TOD/and CC. I would say its safe to say that you will most likely never hear if based on your location.

thankyou. i didnt think i would hear them. some how i wish all these towns and cities didnt go to
digital. i still like to program the analog frequencies in and loved the crystal controled radios years
ago. if i didnt pick something up years ago, i knew most likely it was my antenna. now with digital
you dont know if your close enough or you programed the radio wrong.

As far as scanners are concered, there is nothing different in programming a digital channel than an analog channel. If you screw up entering the freq, well, neither are going to work very well.

It is either hit or miss for me, but where I am 99% of the time it is absolutely great. I have the simulcast for when I am outside of the county, but listening to the trunked system vs. the simulcast when they are both in close range, the trunked system is much clearer, I can flip to the incident channels, the only problem is that it slows down scanning a bit when it is going through the system.
