Here is the Hartford Fire Dept radio programming template:

CH KNOB, CHANNEL DISPLAY, TALKGROUP

Ch01, DISPATCH, 04-041
Ch02, FIRE MED, ???
Ch03, INCIDENT1, 04-042
Ch04, INCIDENT2, 04-043
Ch05, INCIDENT3, 04-044
Ch06, INCIDENT4, 04-051
Ch07, INCIDENT5, 04-052
Ch08, FIRETACT, 04-045
Ch09, FIRE CMD, 04-046
Ch10, FR TRNG, 04-047
Ch11, FDSPEVN1, 02-144
Ch12, FR PREV, 04-061
Ch13, STORM, 02-141
Ch14, DISASTER, 02-142
Ch15, PSCOMAND, 06-127
Ch16, PSCOMAND, 06-127

Unfortunately I was not able to find what Ch02 is? It's apparently a talkgroup crosspatched to CMED/EMS dispatch. and yes the radio tech who programmed these can't spell the word "command".

Unfortunately I didn't have enough free time to figure out another 15+ talkgroups, that are also Not in RR or Scan-NE.

06-143 DPW type activity.
08-040 Snowplows (unsure if DPW, or something like City property snowplows).
08-103 ???
09-001 Riverside Park Ops {confirmed 100%}. Radio display shows "RIVERSIDE PK".
12-036 School Dept: Snowplows & sanding Ops

I temp locked out ~ten 12-xxx talkgroups which was the entire school dept - from principals talking to staff, to a gym teacher reporting a water leak, to a school library asking for the IT Dept saying the internet went down, to a teacher calling on the radio she was sending (John Doe) to the principal's office, and to be sure he actually arrived there. So the 12-xxx series is all school related.

=== and "very poor judgment with City property" ===

* police officers after midnight using a talkgroup as a CB channel discussing sexual positions, and talking about a female coworker, who she would sleep with in the department.
* 08-043 DPW Streets: during daytime guy operating a jackhammer talking to another talking about female asses of women walking by them, while working.
* 12-xxx school: school employee talking to another about a student, by name, who had previously threatened a teacher, and the staff member sharing the story and saying "next time he acts up, we should slap him across the face with the big ruler. His parents are pussies, they never discipline him."

So have you personally monitored these or where did the information come from?

The short version is I worked an event in Hartford from Mon, 1/2 through Mon, 1/9, and my job included two-way radios, which included being a dispatcher, and monitoring the City radio system with a scanner (daytime) and I had a 2nd one in my hotel room for nighttime monitoring. Plus my employees listened to my daytime scanner #1 while working the nighttime shift.

The info came directly from me, a two-way radio tech.

But you didn't have a city radio - just using a scanner correct?

I did have a city radio, which is how I figured out the programming template, and talking on the radio - the scanner then stops on the talkgroup (on the channel I talked on). Turning the channel knob changes channels, which then becomes a different talkgroup #. Plus, if you read the radio programming, that also double verifies the results to insure accuracy. Two-way radio technicians can figure anything out, as you can see.

So, you're a radio tech, but you can't figure out that there's a limit of 8 characters for the display alias, which is why COMMAND wouldn't fit along with PS?

PSCOMMND works for me. That's why super expensive radios are only 8 characters, but other less expensive brands have 12 characters.

Hahahahahaha that's awesome.

I guess the $8000 APX's I buy are cheap with 14 characters

Im thinking a real radio tech would not take a city's public safety radio and post information about it on a public message board. Im also thinking they would not say they sat with the city's radio and keyed up on 16 channels to find the TG and read the radio with software

But that's just me. And the 7100 is 12 but the old radios were 8 so Im thinking they kept the old abbreviations as the important people using the radio were used to them

1000% correct. All of the above.
