Building their own system. Perhaps interconnected to CLMRN but not built by the state.

They're a big company that's been around for a long time. I don't know why they ended up buying the company formerly known as GE, but they did. Mostly they do big, expensive, military products.

L3 harris. slower. backward.
After playing with Motorola radios for 50yrs, the current and recent Harris designed LMR (XG and XL) stuff is a breath of fresh air, especially where software is concerned. I believe the XG-100P was the first Harris designed radio to follow the footsteps of the GE/Tyco/MA/Com lineage with designs by the Harris military radio group.

Its Motorola that has backwards thinking and Harris radio operation is more intuitive and especially the programming software. We've been conned all these years by Motorola and its time to change. Plus Harris is probably THE premiere military radio mfr in the world right now with more radios in the field and more contracts than anyone. Motorola used to be a big player in the military radio circles but have since backed out and can't compete.

BTW, I've been on two Hartford PD ride alongs and its not boring! I can't go into all that happened but it was a lot of fun for a civilian.

Any big city is going to be interesting for a ride along. Hartford isn't Dallas, but it has a pretty high crime rate. Tewksbury OTOH, it's pretty rural as I recall, although it's been years since I was there.
