I notice the same thing going on tonight. I don't listen to them on a regular basis. Too much meaningless chatter.

There is so much chit chat, flirting, locker room talk and screwing around on I Call, it's not easy to hear the cops who are actually doing real police work.

Of course I say that while I sit in the relatively peaceful comfort of home. I would not want to do their job.

Don't know what's up with the control channel thingie.

If you don't lose any transmissions when you lock out the the 854.0125, it's possible that they have converted that to use for mobile data terminals and it's out of the voice rotation. If you listen to the two channels and the data sound isn't similar, that's a likely explanation.

There isn't anything listed in the RRDB for a data channel, so it's possible they took one of the existing trunk channels to use for data.

I lock out I-Calls because that is like 99% of the traffic, tying up my scanner on random conversations. The 859.xxxx frequency is the control channel. Lock out the other data stream.

today it changed 859.9875 is still the control ch but it went from 854.0125 to 856.0375 now the 856 one is strong but the 859 one is a lot weaker and takes afew seconds to catch on my scanner very strange i wonder if this is a problem with there system or is it a permanent thing?

I've been wondering the same thing myself for the past week. The only explanation I came up with was an MDT CC as someone mentioned or they're putting up a second site which doesn't seem as likely. I'm going to hook up my scanner to uni-trunker tonight to see if any radios logs on or off, then I'll match up the IDs to known IDs already saved in my scanner.

Unitrunker has been running for a couple hours on 854.0125 with not a single hit. It's being broadcasted as site 2 with only the one LCN being the control channel.

No clue, I can only guess. One possibility is they are getting rid of their CDMA cell data units for their mobile laptops and replacing it with a MDT radio using their existing EDACS to hook up to their network.
I'll keep an eye on the 2nd control channel for anything joining the network.
I'll look online later to see if maybe there was an open bid for an upgrade to their system

Is Hartford's system still transmitting the 2nd data channel?

Has the LCN changed?

There is some really strange testing on the second control channel system. It is 854.0125 with 5 channels out of the original LCN.
Prerecorded messages are being transmitted over duplicate TGIDs. It almost sounds like automatic dispatching with computer generated voice. The new Public Safety Complex will be open soon so my guess is that they are getting ready for the new dispatch center to be opened.

Seems likely, the new dispatch will be in the new HQ, they're probably setting up new equipment to run on the existing system and testing it with a temporary server. My guess is once they move into the new HQ the 2nd temporary control channel will not be needed any longer.

Just a little growing pains. From what I hear, CG is on the right track.

I've also heard talk of ESK, but kinda doubt it.

For a while this morning the two control channels were broadcasting identical transmissions. Then the control channels swapped frequencies along with the pre recorded messages. It's kinda obvious what's going on, but I just want to call the system admin and ask him what the plan is, I hate guessing.

Don't delete anything, just temporarily lock out the ONE freq that the Control Channel ID'd as Site 2. Then your scanner will follow the correct Control Channel.
