I would like to see if anyone's SDS200 is still working like new after 6 months of use. AND if not
what issues are you having ? Would you send it in for repair or NOT? $699 in my book is a lot of money for a
scanner radio that MIGHT last a year or 2.

I’ve had two since they first came out. I want to say they are 4 years old. I have never sent them in for repair under warranty but that’s only for the first year. But like the man says, don’t bother with those extended warranty’s they try to sell you on anything and everything… if it’s going to break down it’s going to do it within the first year. So, I wouldn’t worry about a Uniden scanner breaking down. Theres probably more concern over a scanner not working due to encryption!

I've also had mine since the beginning, (2019).
What issues are you exactly afraid of?

"Like new"....(??).
The radio either works - or it doesn't, so "like new" would mean it is functioning.
If it is not functioning, you send it in to repair.
Very binary choices here.

Anything you buy has a chance of malfunctioning.
If your basic question is if it will break, chances of that are very low.

I bought my SDS200 from the Uniden Store on Amazon on November 3, 2022. Still working great.

Amazon knocked off $100.00 for opening a credit card with them so it only cost me $599.00

The credit card is a Visa, and branded Whole Foods. For every purchase at Amazon, I get rewards. For many purchases other than Amazon, I still get rewards.

The SDS 200 is a couple or three years old and no problems.
The 100 had cold solder problems that Uniden said they fixed. Jon Weinke put a GPS in the 100 and fixed Uniden's "fix." No problems since then.

Huh?❔ 2 years here and fine. Just review old posts about it. It’s a radio and a hobby so try not to over analyze.

My philosophy on buying anything is after reviewing users reports and doing basic research, if you want something, and can afford it, buy it and enjoy. You can always sell it or give it to a charity. 📻😃.

I bought my SDS200, hot off the presses when it was first released. I've had no problems with it. It's been installed in two different trucks, gone through four New England winters and one Texas summer. It hasn't had one SD card failure, or any other for that matter.

My only complaint is the same as several other people have had, which is that the display can be hard to see in bright sunlight.

I've had my SDS200 for approximately 3 years. Beyond the rather poorly engineered encoder, which for a $600.00 piece of communications gear (albeit for receive only) is totally UNACCEPTABLE, It's been working about as well as one can expect from any first iteration scanner designed to handle simulcast distortion. There's definitely a learning curve but what I can say is if yours truly can program an SDS200, ANYONE CAN! Patience is your best friend when learning how to do so.

since new two of them , both with every upgrades . On 24/7 never an issue . However each were purchased about 2 years apart and the keypad is brighter on the second one purchased two years after the release . The first one had the hum then uniden sent a fix , fixed the hum . Second sds200 had zero issues at all out of box . No hum and backlight to the keys brighter

Had my 100 for over 5 years... Runs 24/7... No issues...
Had my 200 for over 4 years... Runs 24/7... Other than the hum that I did the mod and fixed it myself... No issues...
The hum issue is no longer a problem on the newer ones...

Bought mine 4 years ago. Use it at home and also mounted in my RV on road trips. Only "issue" was a.mild him that I fixed using this method

It still works perfectly.

I've had mine for 4 1/2 years. I've never had an issue with it. I keep the firmware and database current (Sentinel) and have all the upgrades installed (myuniden.com). I use an IOGear wi-fi "dongle" to feed it into Proscan. Hard-wired Ethernet works as well. I've owned many scanners since the 70's and the SDS200 is by far my favorite and worth the $$ in my opinion.
