Perfect! And on sentenel it will tell me which TG are encrypted? You would not need the DMR upgrade to monitor the county's system, which most of the cities apparent;y use. The only city noted as using DMR is Belleair PD, but that is marked as encrypted, so getting the upgrade would not make any difference. There are a few DMR systems used by various businesses, but unless one of them really interests you, skip the DMR upgrade
Clearwater is on a different system, but an SDS100 would be able to hear it as well. A few of Clearwater's talkgroups are flagged as encrypted, but it appears that the Dispatch channels are not.
Not in Sentinel, but you can see the ones flagged as encrypted on the system's database page, if you want to cull them out. However, the SDS100 will skip over encrypted transmissions, so, even if you leave them programmed, the scanner will ignore them. If you do leave them programmed, there is always the possibility that encryption might be turned off, for whatever reason, & if so, you would hear the radio traffic when that is turned off.Perfect! And on sentenel it will tell me which TG are encrypted?
As Steve has said no DMR is needed. Thanks Steve for your help!!Question, do I need the DMR upgrade on my SDS100 to listen? (I’m getting my scanner tm)
We're living in with the "App" generation. It's crazy how many people actually believe their Stupidphone really has a scanner in it and because they spent $2.99 at the App Store, stuff just magically works....or at best, dispatchers just stream their comms openly. To the OP you are free to spend $1000 put in your own scanner spend your own time keeping it working stream it and listen to it yourself.
I been a Volunteer since 1992 and an Emergency Manager for 3. I know where yer comin from. That is why I told the OP what was involved being a 39 year public servant I have seen my share.
Why? because people gave you information and you got defensive over a suggestion to start a feed? Not gonna win over a lot of people with that attitude. Just remember, you get what you give. Can a moderator close this thread?
