Does anybody know what the city of Hattiesburg uses 858.9875mhz for?
Sounds like a control or data channel. The call sign is WPMA379.

858.98750 & 859.98750 are both for Data transmissions for the city of Hattiesburg and are not part of any TRS system. I am not sure what city department are using them. The water department uses the TRS for their data transmissions. They might be from the Traffic Controls department. They have been putting beam antennas on top of some of the traffic signals for the last few years, usally on the traffic signals that have something on them that looks like a camera. And they are all pointing towards the tower, which is located in Oak Grove about 2 miles from my house.

One of the frequencies, can't remember which, is the control channel for the traffic lights with the Yagi-beam antennas. They are aimed at the transciever on the Wesley Med Ctr water tower. ( The old Hbg TRS backup site). Channel is used to send traffic flow patterns to the contoller. Contoller then changes the lights to "streamline traffic flow".

In other words screw everything up. Hi tech red neck. Like the Stoplight preemption devices you see on most of the main roads. Cost $500-1000 per intersection and $300-800 per emergency vehicle to equip. To the best of my knowledge No one in Forrest or Lamar county has preemption equipment on their vehicles.
