Tones? What tones?

114,

Are you asking about Boro Park, Flatbush, or Queens on 160.280 or some other groups on an altogether different frequency?

I apologize for the late post. I believe that H uses MDC - 1200 for signaling. I am in the process of attempting to get the MDC info from a friend. If / when I get it I will post it here :)

All the middle numbers being "3" is unusual too

6,

So all the members of a particular group, say West Side, when they key up are sending 033 after (or before, I haven't listened in a while) their voice message? There's no way to distingush an individual member? With all the possible combinations MDC1200 offers, I find that interesting.

OK. I believe the way it works is that each member has a 4 digit ID. The radios are programmed with multiple channels. For instance, channel one is "open", just 160.280 pl 167.9 and no MDC. You'll hear everything the base transmits, and anything said close enough for your radio to pick up. Channel 2 would be 160.200, the "talk about" channel. Channel 3 might be "F group", for flatbush group, in which your radio is muted until and unless it hears the 3 digit "group number", in this case 430, after which it unmutes. So if the base had a call on Ocean Parkway and Avenue T, the base would tx a 430, opening that group, and then say "any units available Ocean Parkway and T, patient not feeling well" or whatever the call is.....

Channel 4 may be "private", in which the radio is muted until it hears that unit's ID. So if that member had his radio with the ID of 5252 or whatever, it would be silent unless the base transmitted an MDC 5252 to "open" his radio. This is useful when the member wants to get some sleep, for instance.

Obviously this is just an example.

Well each member's radio does send an ID as well, but mostly the MDC is used to get groups so members from (say) Flatbush dont have to hear all the calls in the other neighborhoods...

yup
If you go to Google and enter MDC 1200 you will get lots of good hits - Wikipdia - BatLabs - radioreference

If you are asking about the basic science - IIRC the basic idea is >>>>> if you add Wave 1 to Wave 2 you get Wave 3 which is the sum of Wave 1 plus Wave 2

Try searching for info on resonance or resonant circuits

Selective calling - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia has some info

NYC Hatzolah MDC codes

Here’s what I found. Hatzolah as a whole is using CAD with their radios so all units can be on a central

frequency and as they are needed their 3 digit identifier code is broadcasted so they will only hear the

calls related to their area only. I found PL’s but unknown if they work. You will have to test them when

you go there.

NYC Primary H-Base 160.2800 (167.4) Tac 160.3000 (167.4)
