Got a couple of submissions on the Hatzolah of Rockland PL/DPL. Anyone know the correct DPL/PL they are using? One says the database is no good, and when checking, someone else says it is.

Anyone local with the correct answer?

The DB is correct. 074 DPL, been that way forever.

By the way, if you're getting submissions for Rockland County, NY sent to CT or wherever else, please reassign them to County ID 1868 and I will take care of them. Thanks.

Submitter via PM states 074 has been silent for some time now, and is unable to determine what the new one is.

Hmm, okay. It's certainly possible they changed something recently. I'll find out tomorrow or by the end of the week for sure. Stay tuned.

On 159.885 it is 074 dpl, I have it programmed that way in my portable and I heard them this morning.

Confirmed beyond any shred of doubt 20 minutes ago. The database listing for 159.885 is 100% correct, both the 074 DPL and 160.935 input.

Does anyone know what is the use of 160.140? I believe it is licensed to them but I never hear any activity on it.

Anyone seem to have the the emergency phone # to Hatzolah? I've noticed they don't give it out on any of their websites....

Strange when you're a NYS DOH certified emergency ambulance service.....and you don't publicize your #....

Just FYI, a lot of ambulance companies do not publicize their number, as they are almost always dispatched by the county 911 dispatcher, and oftentimes don't have anyone to answer the phone at their base location phone.

Not true with Hatzolah. They are not part of the 911 system. They are self dispatched, yet they don't give out their 7-digit number to the general public. Strange for a NYS DOH certified ems agency. My question still stands.

Below is a section of an article about what sparked the Crown Heights riots started in Brooklyn.

Some members of the community were outraged because Lifsh (a member of the Jewish community) was taken from the scene by a private Hatzolah ambulance service while city emergency workers were still trying to free the children (who were black) who were pinned under the car. Some believed that Gavin Cato died because the Hatzolah ambulance crew was unwilling to help non-Jews.

I know they give out stickers with the phone numbers...when I lived in Schenectady County, I had a set of phonebooks from downstate that had their stickers for their dispatch numbers in the Catskills and NYC.

And I see they have an iPhone app that helps with the numbers. App Store - Hatzalah

Though, its interesting they just don't put out the number. I suppose you could advise regular 911 that the person is Jewish and might need Hatzalah's services.

I live in Brooklyn. We have the largest religious population of Jews in the world outside of Jerusalem. Many people here, especially the old folks, speak Yiddish or Arabic. Many of the Hatzolah guys speak these languages, so that helps with he EMS calls. Also, I am sure there are 3-4 Hatzolah members for every FDNY EMS emt or medic in Brooklyn. They respond much faster--much much faster. FDNY EMS and Hatzolah often work together on major calls.

Emcomm, where/what website did you find all those phone numbers? All the Hatzolah websites I've looked at, don't publish their emergency phone number.

Unofficially they do not like to take non-community member calls and may refer them to city services and/or call the local ambulance for them. Seen it happen first hand a few times. If responding to such a call that will show them in a good light they may take it to promote their status. Seen that too. But, that's a whole 'nuther thread.
