Do you have a scanner lying that your not using anymore?

Do you have a DSL/Cable Modem connection to the Internet?

If so, you can put your scanner online for everyone else to enjoy!

To put your unused scanner online you *don't* need a second computer, the computer you normally use will work fine as long as it has a sound card. The scanner won't interfere with your ability to use the computer, listen to music and other online scanners, etc. and it won't slow down your internet connection.

If you're interested in putting your scanner online I can build an accompanying web site for the area(s) being scanned and can give you admin privileges on the site. Admin privileges can range from simply being a moderator on the boards to posting news articles on the home page, etc. (see ScanCobb.com and ScanDawson.com for examples).

Setting up the scanner feed is easy (I can walk you through the steps). Your PC would take the audio from the scanner and encode it and then send it to one of my hosted audio servers (paid for by the ads on the accompanying web site). When people want to listen they'll connect to my audio server and not to your home PC.

Go to http://www.scanatlanta.com/StreaminAudio.htm to see a list of scanners already online in Georgia, there's plenty of room for more, especially Atlanta Police & Fire.

Thanks,
Gordon
