We've just gotten a new BCT8 Scanner, we live in Morrow County, Oregon, which has a trunked system of some sort for the law enforcement community and we're finding no info on which kind it is, or if this scanner is capable of picking this particular one up. We've been told that it is a sophisticated set-up the Fed's helped install because of the incineration at the Umatilla Army Depot. Can someone get us started in the right direction to tune this thing in?
BTW we are absolutely new at this scanner stuff. Thanks

Can't verify, but believe they use the Umatilla TRS
http://radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&sid=1134

The FCC database lists two transmitters on this system near Heppner, many more in Umatilla Co.

Thanks for the info, that helped. That does seem to be the correct system from what we've heard and this BCT8 won't pick-up this particular trunk.

regarding Morrow County

I live in Morrow County and yes, Morrow and Umatilla Co use the same Trunked System.
I'm not sure if the BCT8 Scanner will correctly scan the system. You need a scanner that allows for Triple Trunking.

I know the Radio Shack Pro 97 will because I'm listening to it right now.

Let us know what talk groups you find or can determine who they belong to, one of these days I may make a trip to do the same.

It should be able to, It's a Type II UHF system. See page 45 in the user Manual.

Custom Frequency Table

re: BCT8 Scanner

The BCT8 Scanner will NOT work with his trunked system.

you made be able to monitor some traffic but you will not be able to monitor
the system correctly with BCT8 Scanner.

Pro 97 is my suggestion...
