Having Trouble Picking Up the East Valley

The HP1 is quirky on how it chooses sites when you hold. I will need to double check, but if I recall correctly, it will hold on a single site when you hold on a system or channel. The problem is that it may hold on the incorrect site that does not carry the talkgroups you are looking for. Also, when holding on a System or Channel for prolonged periods it will also sometimes change to a different site if there is a dropout in signal.

Try holding on a department, and I believe it will continue to monitor all sites that are not avoided.

Interesting you mention that. My scanner was exhibiting that exact behavior and I thought I was going crazy. I will try that out. Thanks!

Also, when was the last time you updated the DB in the Sentinal software and wrote it to the scanner? Mesa's TRWC changed frequencies a few months back. If it has been more then a year, then Chandler's RWC Simulcast C changed frequencies since then.

It was only two or three nights ago. I verified the update both in Sentinel and on the device as well (turns out I do have the extreme update).

Ok, I took a break from my long term project and put together a FL resembling what I would create if I lived in the East Valley. Unzip the zipped attachment, then get it into Sentinel, and then upload to the scanner. Monitor the FL and see if you get any better results.

Yikes, you were doing better than that on your own. Just discard my attempts there. I probably messed something up.

Let's try one more time. I loaded the same hpe file that I attached to the earlier post. I noticed certain options in the "Profile" were incorrectly set. I made a new FL with changes made to the "Profile". Notice that the "Profile" name is East Valley for RR Forum (shows at the top of Sentinel). Also, I "avoided" the DPS, Maricopa Phoenix, Maricopa Co Sheriff, and RWC Simulcast A/B Systems.

I made a "New" hpe File. I uploaded the new hpe File to Sentinel and then to the scanner without additional editing. I will listen for a while and report what I receive.

Quality audio from:

Topaz---Mesa/Gilbert FDs---Channel 1
RWC (H)---Scottsdale PD---AO2 North Dispatch

This is enough success to indicate another try might give different results. Try the attached hpe File.

No luck...all I've heard is Scottsdale and Fort McDowell
