It only charges when it's turned off, and sometimes it asks you if you want to charge it when you turn it off. This is different from scanners that scan and charge at the same time. -Tim

Click to expand... Wattage is just a maximal rating for a charger, not what is delivered. Is it rated at 5 volts? Google "USB charging voltage" to find some useful links. What is on the screen when the scanner is plugged in and turned off?
