ROGERSVILLE — The Public Safety Committee voted Wednesday to move forward with a plan to replace Hawkins County’s failing emergency radio system with a VHS analog system similar to the one in place now.
The ultimate deciding factor was the cost.

A well designed analog system will work, as long as voter placements and or site placements are properly engineered. Many are relying on the old sites to handle narrow band athat were erected back when 25/30 wideband was in use and heck some way before that when that was considered narrow band. With costs many arent redoing site studies to improve their systems or add new sites or replace where theyd be more suitable for 12.5/6.25 etc.
