Hayward Police

This morning I heard HPD dispatch telling their units to switch to the "Ruby" channel while working an incident. Anyone have any information about this. I've been following Hayward Police and Fire for over five years all most 24/7 and this is the first time I've ever heard them mention this.

The only thing I can see in the way of a "Ruby" channel is the CHP's San Jose frequency. They might have access to those channels, and the incident you speak of could have been a traffic collision in which CHP may have been involved in Hayward's jurisdiction, and wanted to communicate with CHP. Maybe that doesn't happen. As far as San Jose's units, maybe they were in a chase that ended up in Hayward (it's happened before).

I'm pretty sure it was related to this story, Parents held, children safe after Fairview standoff - Inside Bay Area. I still think its kinda strange. Could it be possible that they would just use two-way radios?
