Just got home. There is a hazmat incident at the Charles Town Wal Mart involving Chlorox. Units and departments from all over the area too numerous to mention. At least 2 victims transported. It seems like (I heard this from some one who knows) Wal Mart has been having sewage backups that spill over from the rest room(s) at the front of the store for the last several days. Today was no different. The toilet backs up and runs out into the customer/cash register area. I don't know if the health dept. was called, however, some employee decided that the best way to sterilize the floor was to use Chlorox !! Apparently they did and about 1 hour ago, customers started complaining. (I wonder why!!) The world was dispatched to the scene. The customers and maybe the employees were evacuated. At some point someone on scene mentioned a 60 gallon container at the rear of the store, then something about leakage of (I think) of 40 Gallons.
Obviously, units are still on the scene. All of the roads leading to the shopping center in which the store is located are sealed off. Don't try to go to Staples or to the 7-11, which is on the other side of the rd and up from the store. The area is sealed! I wonder if Wal Mart has their lawyers enroute as well.

Amen! Been there in a amonia leak in the Eckington Market in D.C. We relieved off going shift. I smelled it enroute to work, about 2 miles away. One member of my company was taken to hospital. The bottoms of his feet had amonia burns on them, even though he was wearing full protective clothing. He was awarded a Gold Medal For Valor for rescuing a female emploee in an office above the the wholesale meat market/plant. (scenes from hell), as i recall thinking as we approached the location to relieve the midnight shift. No melodramatics, just part of the life of a fireman.
