When I start HDSDR, the waterfall shows a wideband signal in the center of the display and I hear muffled audio. Also, the S meter is pegged. I thought the built in laptop microphone was the problem. I disabled it however the problem did not go away. It makes no difference what frequency is tuned.

I would appreciate any suggestions on curing the problem.
Thanks and 73, Bob, KN4HH

Hi Bob,

it would help a lot to know what SDR and sound hardware you are using.
I'm surprised that you are using the laptop's mic input!?
Please send a screenshot of your centered wideband signal and what soundcard settings your are using.

kind regards,
LC

PS: if screenshot is not possible over RadioReference, then please email it directly: lc@hdsdr.de

Sorry for the delay. The problem turned out to be in my audio mixer software on the pc. Once I selected the correct audio path, the receiver works fine. BTW I am using a RT820T Dongle receiver with a Ham It Up converter. Other than lots of birdies ( I assume because I do not have the board in a shielded container), I am quite pleased with the performance.

Thanks for your willingness to help.
Bob
