I've been using HRD and HDSDR to control my R75 for a couple of years without problems.* My cable is an FTDI chip (usb to rs232). After W10 update, HDR reports "error setting port status - a device connected to the system is not functioning.

Everything still works when using my laptop with W7 , and the same cable, so the R75 is working.
I've tried:
updating ftdi drivers
configuring Omnirig differently
running HDR and HDSDR in all compatibility modes
setting the FTDI cable to different com ports

Once, HDSDR reported "can't find omnirig."
Or HDSDR reports "port not availiable" in setup.

I just know this is a W10 thing, but my brain is exhausted.
Anyone gone through this?

Thanks,
Dave

SOLVED:
It seems the usb/serial adapter driver kept defaulting to the older one in "Driverstore" folder of Windows.
Had to use a utility, "Driverstore Explorer" to delete the old (several) drivers for the FTDI chip.
What an "adventure", and only took me two days.
