I have a Uniden 436 I am taking to Tyndall AFB (Panama City) area next week for vacation. Any good Freq lists for Mil Air monitoring? Suggestions? Would like to hear some AF chatter if possible.

Thx,

Steve

It's easy to tell you're a scanner fan. You didn't say you were going to Florida. You said you were going to Tyndall AFB. Also, you didn't ask about the best beaches, where the pretty girls are or where the best fishing might be. You asked about freqs at Tyndall.

Anyway, I'm a frequent visitor to Mexico Beach, Florida. Maybe it was just bad luck on my part but I always found the chatter so infrequent that I quit listening to them years ago.

Ahhh.. I am a fan of both Best Beaches and Females. I have the best female here with me!!

Being a Floridian that does not live there anymore I visit different childhood vacation spots at least once a year and have family near Pensacola. I am from Old Miami.

There are some old SOF Freqs listed here on RR but I was hoping for more. I will try anyway. Maybe bring two while on the beach watching the folks walk by.. LOL

Thx,

Steve

Tyndall & Gulf Coast Aircraft

I set my scanner on search to sweep the military aircraft band. I save everything in quick save. From Destin, I hear a lot of traffic out over the gulf. Dog fighting, mid air refuleing, and even a missle test. I've heard the F-22's from Tyndall-it's fast and furrious. Also, I hear traffic from NAS Pensicola, and Ft. Walton Beach. Remember, they don't fly every day. The F-22's are expensive to operate and they use a set plan for practice. If you hear the hiss of the oxygen flow in their masks, it's probably an F-35 or an F-22. Both have great radios.

Glad You Had A Great Trip

Steve EJ
Glad you had a great time. I heard a lot of F-35 traffic in the Panhandle near Egland AFB. Cool that a pilot can see what his wingman has chosen as a priority weapon from his display. It sounds like they were having some great dogfights over the gulf. I did not hear anything I could identify as an F-22. Also, some mid air refueling.

When I was in the room I had the radio on. It was a slow week. I even brought my ADS-B receiver with me. I really did not hear that much. I will be going back and will try again. Thanks for the input!
